Heritage Museum, SwedishAmerican Hospital
& Architectural Design
Completed: June 2011
P■G Architecture Design/Build was commissioned to provide preliminary concepts for a Medical History and Heritage Museum for this long term client and was subsequently hired to then provide the design of the enclosed gallery spaces. Along with the museum, this project also encompassed renovation of the area’s circulation, opening views to the healing garden (previously not available) and renovation of the ground floor/lobby elevator serving the nursing tower.
Building its first hospital in Rockford, Illinois in 1911, to provide care to a growing Swedish community, SwedishAmerican Hospital has grown over the years to become the leading regional healthcare provider and has a desire to incorporate this Heritage Museum within the Hospital to feature their long history and display medical historically significant artifacts.
Grand opening of this exciting project was held in June 2011 which coincided with the Hospital’s 100th anniversary.
